For sale is a 1976 BMW R90/6 with 44k miles. VIN: 4970911, Frame/engine/frame tag numbers are matched. It was produced in 10/1975.
R90/6 is one of the most smooth and reliable engines that BMW ever made. The torquey 900cc air-cooled flat twin pairs with 5 speed transmission transferring the power through the oil bathed closed driveshaft to rear wheel. The R90/6 is able to keep up with modern highway traffic and doing 80 mph all day long without a hiccup. I have been averaging about 45 miles/gal, MPG. This BMW classic BMW motorcycle runs and sounds great.
I am the third owner. I have put in about 400 miles since 02/2021. It runs perfectly and everything works as it should be. Fluids (Engine, transmission, driveshaft, and final drive) changed about 400 miles ago and changed again just today (08/07/2021) for the sale. It has updated later model BMW cast wheels and bigger touring tank (5.5 gal, ~240 range). New BMW policy style solo seat. OEM BMW Battery is tested and in great working condition. Valve gaps/point gap/timing were adjusted about 400 miles ago. Carburetors were adjusted and synchronized also 400 miles ago. Tires are old but have lots tread left. Next service will be at least 2600 miles later.
This is a well preserved 45 years old motorcycles so surface rust, dings and touch ups all over the bike. Please see the link for additional photos. It’s a great bike to ride as it wearing it’s unique patina or can be a great candidate for restoration or café .
The bike comes with one original BMW folding key, clean transferable NY state title, bill of sale, past service receipts and a box of spare parts.
Reason for sale, out of garage space.
