    Description

    SCARCE REPORT!! WILD COUNTRY!!
    This is USGS Bulletin 1230-G,
Mineral Resources of the Devil Canyon-Bear Canyon Primitive Area, California
. This publication consists of the 20-page book and both original maps. Published in 1967, this is a scarce item.
The area covered in this work is about 60 square miles and lies east of Pasadena in Los Angeles county. The geology of the area is covered in detail and mineral resources are detailed as well. This is an area known for some gold placers, as well as occurrences of other minerals. There is at least one old mine. A lot of the area is mountainous terrain ranging between about 2000 and 8000 feet elevation. It is noteworthy for spectacular canyons and very visible geology. All in all it is a scarce, interesting, and complete work on a nice and easily accessible part of the country. What a great find!
