VINTAGE/ANTIQUE DOLL one of a kind doll by Neva Wade Garnett Calli Lou beauty.
In the OCT 1982 Doll Reader magazine Neva Wade Garnett wrote an article entitled" Three Generations of Doll Makers.” She tells her story about working with her mother Clara Wade and learning the business and eventually starting her own doll business. She was doing very well but her right had become more and more painful as she worked. When she went to the doctor and learned she had Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and needed surgery. So she had the surgery but could not return to painting for many months. During her recovery, she took a class on moldmaking and created her own original doll head.....marked Calli-Lou which she also named her business. She had had to create this model using only her left hand so it was an amazing accomplishment and the only original she ever made.
