    Description

    From the estate of a naval pilot who was there, the August 14, 1945 issue of the USS Hamlin's newspaper, The Scoop, with a giant WAR ENDS headline. This lot also includes provenance in the form of official naval duty orders concerning the pilot.The newspaper includes how the chief electrician was on watch when the news came in, "Atomic Bomb Cited As Main Reason For Jap Fall," and more. About 7" x 9".  The naval orders are 8 1/2" x 11" and dated 6 October 1945.
    The newspaper is in very good condition with a small stripe of sun tanning on the bottom. The naval orders are in good condition with marks from an old paperclip and a sun-tanned square at the bottom.
